brandelius

Brandelius has worked with virtually every artistic technique over the years, but is perhaps best known for her performance art. Within this practice, she assume a role over a longer period of time, and examines societal norms in relation to this. Many know her as Miss Universe, where she played with the concepts of what a Miss Universe is expected to be. Brandelius’s Miss Universe was loud and demanding and did not please the world but rather wanted to change the world so that it would please her. As Miss Universe Brandelius was the lead singer in the band Doktor Cosmos.

She has also worked as "Profesora" a self-proclaimed professor and educator who traveled around the country to convey information which for some reason had fallen out of the history books and dissected the concept of knowledge. Who owns knowledge? What is knowledge? From where does it emerge? Whose knowledge counts?

Brandelius father is also present in her art. A man misunderstood by the world who escaped the reality of a little too much, like so many other male geniuses. The father often sang songs by Evert Taube to his little daughter. Therefore, Brandelius has also taken on the role as Taube - commander, sailor, constantly in search of adventure and women.

The silk screen prints presented at ed. are in most cases related to Brandelius different projects and the the recurring figures are recognized; the misunderstood male genius, the crying beauty queen, the heroes that we too often tend to forget.
