Drawing is the foundation of Tobias Törnqvist's oeuvre; the fascination with the fact that a dash with a pen can either be the beginning of a mountain or gravel under a house. Recurring themes are nature and construction; spaces and places where animals and people dwell. For Törnqvist, the pictures often have an autobiographical side and the starting-point is often something objective, which during the working process changes character and ends up as something unexpected.
Tobias Törnqvist graduated from the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm in 2008 and has since also studied as a project student in printmaking at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Drawing, collage and printmaking are his main ways of working. He has exhibited, among other places, at Brother Hjorths hus in Uppsala.
