rihanna's ghost

Ditte Ejlerskov’s photogravure ”Abbreviation” is now available on ed-art.se The print is part of a vast artistic research Ejlerskov began working on in 2013. The artist’s was a scammer email sent to the artist from Barbados. It developed into an enthusiastic correspondence and led Ejlerskov to the other side of the world following the phantom of the famous pop star Rihanna and the ghost of the scammer Fergal.

Mainstream culture and in particular the universe of American pop idols has for long been the object of Ejlerskov’s special attention. However, her fan attitude went far beyond a simple google search this time and drove Ejlerskov to undertake a real voyage in order to glide around “Riri’s” real world - Barbados.

Ejlerskov published the semi fictive ‘travel novel' My Bajan Letters in 2013. Now another book with emails is published together with the release of a film shot during her stay in Barbados. A still image from her documentary is the source material for her colour photogravure project ‘Abbreviation’ – an attempt to bridge the real-life stay in Barbados and the dream-like experience of her journey

In October 2016, the different parts of the project are presented in a extensive solo exhibition at Annaelle Gallery in Stockholm, don't miss!
