In Thomas Hansson's pictures, the mass-produced, the empty and the nostalgic is lifted up to become art. Read more
Thomas Hansson’s work is often about emptiness or nostalgia and a search for meaning in the meaningless. In his visual world - which often depicts simple, but often slightly twisted everyday objects such as porcelain figurines or costume masks - he searches for some form of symbolism or contemporary mythology. "It is always the image's meaning that drives my work forward," he says.
In the spring of 2016, Thomas Hansson received his Master of Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Umeå. He has exhibited in Stockholm, Umeå and Malmö, but also outside of Sweden. In 2016 he was awarded the Ann-Margret Lindell Printmaking Scholarship, which was his introduction to the world of printmaking.
