About Harald Lyth

In Harald Lyth's art, the visual space plays the main role. The scale of his works is uncertain, inviting the viewer to reflect on his or hers own size in relation to the open, abstract environments. As his main practice is painting, Lyth returned to graphic prints in the fall of 2025, in collaboration with the printmaker Catarina Landberg. Without an original, they created his first screenprint in many years: the work "Rotunda". The title alludes to a circular room – like a circus arena – and summarizes the artist's constant exploration of space and form.

Harald Lyth (b. 1937, Gothenburg) is a former professor of painting at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. His last major solo exhibition was Probabilities, a retrospective exhibition at Liljevalchs+ in 2022.
