About Maria Bajt

Maria Bajt (b. 1976) works with a variety of media, in both two and three dimensions. Screen printing plays a central role in her creative process, where she navigates between monumental works and small works on paper. In her artistic practice, Maria Bajt often explores the relationship between myth, contemporary identity, and collective development in a changing world; she investigates how all elements of life are interconnected when faced with environmental and technological challenges. Her hybrid, metaphorical bodies and forms exist in the space between the human and the non-human, as well as between nature and science fiction.

Maria Bajt graduated from the Royal Institute of Fine Arts in Stockholm in 2008. For many years she has divided her time between Berlin, Skåne and Stockholm. Her work can be found in several important art collections such as the Stockholm and Gothenburg city collections. In recent years she has also completed a number of large public art projects.
