Mats Svensson
Mats Svensson is the printmaker who tends the heritage of the golden age of Swedish printmaking. He works directly in the copper plate to create his intricate black and white prints. The unique richness of the black of copper printmaking, offers endless possibilities to create light and darkness. The inspiration often comes from nature, many times around the corner from the artist’s house outside of Skövde. But basically it is the moods he seeks to capture, trying to put the it inexpressible in print.
Svensson (b. 1950, Stockholm) has an art education with focus on printmaking and and wood sculpture. He exhibits actively within the world of printmaking, including as of ten selected printmakers to exhibit in Paris in 2016.
