Madeleine Aleman

In Madeleine Aleman's art, opposites are intertwined. She combines reality with fantasy, the mundane with the sacred, and different cultures with each other. Aleman is also fascinated by historical figures, especially mystics. The artist's choice of materials and expression varies, as she works with the openness and zeal of a researcher in the artistic process. A project can take many different forms, depending on what she finds when she "digs". Aleman is strongly influenced by esotericism and psychoanalysis. In her artistic practice, she works with methods that explore hypnagogic states.

Madeleine Aleman (b. 1959, Stockholm) studied at Konstfack in Stockholm and is also a certified art therapist. She has exhibited all over Sweden, but also in Spain, China and Canada.
