Erik Berglin
Erik Berglin mainly works with photography in an extended context, with interventions in the public sphere, fictional stories and with appropriated material from the internet. In recent years, he has started generating images using algorithms. He creates situations where everyday images are alternated and displaced from their natural functions, often with references to art history and popular culture. His method is conceptual but leaves room for the random and unexpected.
Erik Berglin (b. 1980, Sundsvall) received his Master of Fine Arts from Akademin Valand in Gothenburg in 2010. Berglin has received around 20 scholarships and is represented in the collections of the Musée de Elysée in Switzerland, Hasselblad Center, and Gothenburg Museum, among others. In 2022 he was awarded the Swedish Photo Book Award for his book The Bird Project.
