Emma Dominguez

For Emma Dominguez, art is about struggle and freedom. She grew up in council estates of Botkyrka in southern Stockholm, and her art often deals with issues of exile, exclusion and whose voice is heard in the public realm. In photos, videos, texts, sculptures and prints, she creates – often in collective processes – works that draw inspiration from the place where she grew up and the people and stories that surround her.

Emma Dominguez, born in 1989, is educated at Konstfack in Stockholm. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions around Sweden and has received scholarships for her art from, among others, the Helge Ax:son Johnson Foundation, the Nils Johan Sjöstedt Foundation and the City of Stockholm.
