About Birgitta Samuelsson

The water is central to Birgitta Samuelsson's art. She compares the movement of the water to that of music; the artist herself taking on the role of the conductor, with the task of finding rhythm and balance in the combination of colour. A frequently recurring pattern in Samuelsson's work is also one that looks like the glistening of moving water. The artist herself calls her works abstractions of inner or outer landscapes. The motives come back in all the materials that Samuelsson masters – painting, silkscreen printing and printing on glass.

For years, Birgitta Samuelsson has been a senior lecturer at Konstfack in silkscreen printing and has conducted research in printing methods on glass. She is the author of a large number of public artworks.
