Anna Pajak has made her most ambitious lithograph yet! A fantastic work of art measuring a full 98 x 68 cm, printed in 10 colors. Together with printer @blackheartpress aka Patrick Wagner and the legendary Ernst Hanke on an old schnellpresse installed in a barn in Bubbemåla in the forests of Småland.
Anna Pajak working on the lithographic stone
Sirensång is a stone lithograph based on thoughts about the metamorphosis of the body – about the state of carrying a life within oneself and for a while housing two hearts. The work marks the beginning of a series of images that examine pregnancy beyond its biological and medical framework.
– The image is an attempt to capture the fragility and power of the state that occurs when two minds exist within the same body.
Printers Patrick Wagner och Ernst Hanke
The work is printed in ten colors, where each layer is prepared separately on the lithographic stone and then printed on the entire edition.
– During the process, I came very close to my way of working with painting, as the play of color was created intuitively during the printing process and built up layer by layer. Working with prints has become a way for me to think about the image – a changing space where painting and printing can meet and speak to each other. By translating the thoughts behind my paintings into prints, and vice versa, new visual possibilities open up.
