On 1 February, ed. art will inaugurate our new space on Söder with new works by Catti Brandelius. Welcome to the opening!
For the artist Catti Brandelius, text has always been important. She has written song lyrics, chronicles, film scripts and more. In the serigraphs now presented at ed. art, the text has been boiled down to shorter statements and poetic reflections and combined with images.

Texts such as I wish I were a dishcloth and could come out onto the large table surfaces illustrated by a dish brush hanging over the sink, carry Catti Brandelius' unmistakable humor, everyday realism and warmth. In Universe, what do you need from me today, we see a pair of outstretched, cupped hands that – instead of demanding something from the outside world – offer their help. A gesture possibly more important than ever.
In her visual art, Catti Brandelius feels a kinship and is inspired by both Toulouse-Lautrec and political poster art from the 1960s and 70s. For the wider audience in Sweden, Brandelius is perhaps better known under her various aliases, especially Miss Universum, who was one of the voices in the band Doktor Cosmos during the 90s. For the art audience, she is one of our foremost performance artists of today with a strong feminist and social pathos.
Welcome to the opening Saturday 1 February 12:00-17:00
The serigraphs are hand-printed at the Textile Department at Konstfack and Grafikskolan in Stockholm by the artist and Moa-Matilda Nilsson.
