chimera

We are pleased to present a new series of works by Maria Bajt! In Temple of Chimera, Maria Bajt plays with the idea of a new human species that paves the way for a more harmonious relationship with the environment.

In her work, Maria Bajt often deals with the relationship between myth, contemporary identity, and collective evolution in a changing world; the interconnectedness of life in the face of environmental and technological challenges. The chimera in this series serves as a symbol of hybridization, indicating how humanity’s treatment of nature contributes to the destruction of our planet. It plays with the idea of a new kind of human species—a chimera that integrates both nature and the non-human world, fostering a harmonious relationship with the environment and paving the way for a more unified existence.

Temple of Chimera is a series of four limited editions of serigraph prints, each featuring 34 to 36 pieces created using 10 to 12 colors. The serigraphs are hand-printed by the artist, each print signed and numbered.

Maria Bajt graduated from the Royal Institute of Fine Arts in Stockholm in 2008. For many years she has divided her time between Berlin, Skåne and Stockholm. Her work can be found in several important art collections such as the Stockholm and Gothenburg city collections. In recent years she has also completed a number of large public art projects.
