Johan Löfgren
b. 1972
Johan Löfgren often picks his motives and his aesthetics from the era of the earliest computer games. It is the act of painting carried out by computer instead of using a brush and paint. With classic art historical terms, one could call him an observer of his times, both in terms of what he depicts and with what tools. Löfgren's images are characterized by bright colors and sharp contrasts and it is no coincidence that he was received the Baertling Scholarship a few years ago.
Games and play, thoughts, imagination and virtual reality: art constitutes the basis for utopias to spire and grow. The possibilities seem endless when you use one or several medium with an interface where the boundaries are still completely unexplored - Johan Löfgren utilizes and develops these opportunities.
