In Maria Hall's new works, two worlds meet - the world of nature and that of abstraction
b. 1964, Göteborg
Maria Hall works primarily with painting and drawing, where she visualizes the beauty and drama of grief, absence, longing and love. For this, she creates places that are more akin to the memory of nature than to nature itself, or large, completely abstract, vertiginous rooms to lose oneself in. In her prints, Maria Hall's two worlds meet - nature and abstraction. The watercolored monotypes are filled with traces of memory: of carvings, seeds, threads, needles and cutouts. Something is told about both dream and reality.
Maria Hall studied at Valand Art School in Gothenburg and the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. Her painting has been exhibited throughout Sweden, including at a large solo exhibition at Vandalorum in 2018
