High quality edition art from the Nordics

ed. art wants more people to be able to surround themselves with real, good art. Therefore, we sell artworks by some of the most established Nordic artists, as well as younger, aspiring stars, but we sell only fine art prints such as lithographs, etchings and silkscreen prints, mostly made in editions. When a work of art is produced in several copies, the price is lower and the art becomes accessible to more people.

Terms and conditions

At ed-art.se we have gathered a Nordic range of quality art in collaboration with artists, galleries and publishers with a couple of important quality parameters in mind:

– We do not buy and sell art, but work directly with works in commission from the producers - the artists and printers. When you buy an artwork from us, you support the Nordic art scene.

– We do not sell reproductions of original works, but only works produced to be sold as edition works.

– All works are signed by the artists, part of a limited edition and printed on sturdy, age-resistant paper. Many of our artists work with old printing techniques such as etchings and woodcuts, where each work is hand-printed.

– We cooperate with a frame maker, so the artwork you buy is ready to be hung straight on your wall when delivered. All framings are acid-free and handmade to give your artwork a long and beautiful life.

background

How it came about

ed. art was founded by me, Elisabeth Blennow Calälv, in October 2014. During six years of working at a Stockholm art gallery, I noticed a huge interest in contemporary art and a desire, in many people, to surround themselves with real, good art in their homes. But they found it too difficult to navigate their way in the art world, and felt that the galleries were inaccessible. In addition, the price level of the original artworks was often out of their reach.

At the same time, I saw that there was a large amount of edition artworks lying around in the galleries’ and artists' storages, without being shown, because the work of showing them – work by work – was too time-consuming. The idea of ed. art was born out of this – an online shop where Scandinavia's best edition artworks would be gathered, readily available for customers to look at however long they want.

So, away with high thresholds and white cubes and in with the possibility of finding art that you like without anyone looking over your shoulder. Welcome to ed. art!
