rain

We at ed. art are pleased to present two new lithographs by Johan Björkegren. In the new lithographs Källan (the Source) and Meditation, the motif consists of rain falling on water. The artist himself describes the works in this say:

"The water surface becomes the thin membrane between the seeming reality and the subconscious future and the parallel world of history, an opening to spiritual purification and oblivion where mind, memory and time are dissolved in infinity. To quote Rutger Hauer's replicant in Blade Runner from 1982: 'Those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain'"

Through a repetition of technique and motifs, the images are close to the abstract. In his artistry, Johan Björkegren works in a romantic tradition on topics such as transience, memory, loss and time; a longing for something forever lost; incomplete images where the unknown rows behind the white paper surface. The printing work has been carried out by Lumphé Litografiska, one of Sweden's foremost lithography printers. The editions of 30 copies each are signed and numbered by the artist. The artist has worked directly onto a drawing film, and the motif is then transferred photographically to lithographic plates.
