We’ve worked with Jakob Ojanen's prints for many years, and it is always a pleasure when the artist drops by with new works. For the most part, they are monotypes, where Ojanen can work directly on an untreated plate in a way that resembles painting. That goes for this time, too. Now, eight new monotypes are available at ed-art.se.

This is how Jakob Ojanen himself describes the work with the new images:

- With these monotypes - and with my latest paintings - I have entered into an artistic process where I try to find a temporal aspect. Where the gestures of the tools, brushes and silicone spatulas work and move the paint mass over the printing plate back and forth. Erases and paints over, scrapes away and draws. The silicone brush erases just as much as it draws, it becomes a kind of inverted drawing. The image is reworked and started over until I find that feeling that a rip in time occurs. The image becomes both a moment and an eternity at the same time.

Jakob Ojanen received his Master of Fine Arts from Konstfack in Stockholm in 2008. Since then, he has exhibited at galleries and museums around Sweden. In 2019, he was awarded the Åke Andréhn scholarship for his rich oevre and innovative painting practice, where he explores the materiality and the view of painting's characteristics and conditions. "His sculptural works, installations and paintings come across as headstrong and expressive, both visually and conceptually" wrote the jury then.
