green sea

Ann Frössén is almost exclusively dedicated to the sea as a motif; one could almost call it an obsession. Now, three new digital collages are availble at ed-art.se, Green Sea I, II and III. Although these works revolve around the sea, they leave plenty of room for the imagination to wander freely. Here are Ann Frössén’s own words about the origin of the works:

- During the summers of 2013 and 14, me and mu husband Kjell-Åke often returned to a pier far out at Blockhusudden on Djurgården. Near the sea. When a bigger ship passed, the whole pier was washed over with waves, we were completely soaked. I had to care with the camera. I photographed the fast, for a long time. Beautiful white seafoam, rolling waves against the beach and rocks glistening next to the pier.

- After that comes the processing of the photos in my computer. I do it my way, by copying and pasting. It has created these images, bursting with fantasy figures animals–owls, deer, birds, dogs and plants, flowers, trees and branches. But one can also see lace or embroidery. You can see whatever you want, mixed in with the waves and foam and reflections in the water.
