Portrait of a painter (the brushes)
Morten Buch's works oscillate somewhere between early art history and pop culture. Buch uses a narrow circle of motifs–he will often return to the vase, the shoe and the tent–just like the masters of ancient times. But the colour selection with the bright tones of pink, purple and the lightest of turquoise, reminisce rather of contemporary visual culture. Reaching beyond the canvas is Buch’s goal. He talks of painting from the canvas and forward, starting from the two dimensions of the canvas and from that creating a third, sculptural room.
Morten Buch came into visual arts without formal training. Today he is an established artist in Denmark, with a large number of solo exhibitions behind him. His works are found in several large Danish art collections.
