About frames

Olle Bonniér is inevitable in the history of Swedish abstract art. With a presence stretching from his debut during the mid-1940s right up to date. Through his career, Bonniér has experimented with political, figurative painting, as well as complex light experiments, but the non-figurative painting with a precise sense of balance and rhythm is what he is most famous for.

Bonniér worked as an errand boy and servant while studying painting at, among others, Isaac Grünewald's art school in Stockholm. In 1947 he participated in "Young Art" at Galleri Färg och form, an exhibition that gave rise to the epithet "the mend of 1947”, where Bonniér therefore was included. In 1993 he received the Prince Eugen Medal for distinguished artistic activities.
