"In retrospect, it feels like a dream. During my month-long stay in Iceland, I was in a different realm, spiritually. Every morning when I looked out of my bedroom window, I saw the mountains, as if all over again". Read more about Madeleine Aleman's Bergtagen series
Madeleine Aleman's mission is integration. Her art combines reality with fantasy, profanity with the sacred and different cultures with each other. Aleman is also fascinated by historical biographies, especially those of the mystics. The artist’s choice of materials and expressions are diverse, since she follows the process with a researcher’s openness and eagerness. A project can be expressed in many different ways, depending on what she finds when "digging". Aleman is strongly influenced by esotericism and psychoanalysis. In her artistic practice, she works with methods that explore hypnagogic states.
Madeleine Aleman has studied at the University College of Arts, Craft and Design and is also a certified art therapist. She has exhibited throughout Sweden, but also in Spain, China and Canada.
