Adam Saks works in a tradition of expressive, powerful painting that has had many prominent representatives from the country of his upbringing, Denmark, before him. The basic motifs are often taken from the world of plants, but are distorted and transformed in Saks’ hands. A creeping sense of underlying threat or doom is often created through strong contrasts and dramatic color choices.
Adam Saks studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in the 90s. Today he lives in Berlin. He has exhibited in several important European museums. Parallel to painting, he has devoted himself to printmaking throughout his career. In 2015 he received the Queen Sonja Inspirational Award for Printmaking from the Norwegian Queen.
