Theo Ågren works in both two and three dimensions - with classic copper printmaking, but also with sculpture. But the object of his research is the same: man's relationship to his surroundings, which he tries to portray in a surreal, humorous and unexpected way. Often man-made everyday objects are combined with representations of nature; scales are shifted and the combinations open up for new readings.
The artistic path began at Hoveskou's painting school and continued at the Art Academy in Trondheim with a degree in 2001. Since then, Theo Ågren has mainly worked with sculpture, often in collaboration with the artist Björn Hegardt. He has done several public commissions, has exhibited in Sweden, Norway and Germany and currently teaches at HDK-Valand, the Academy of Art and Design in Gothenburg.
