The painter and sculptor Håkan Rehnberg is one of Sweden's most prominent artists. Early on in his career, Rehnberg resisted the foundations of painting and attempted to free himself from historical restrains. In his paintings, the artists often uses acrylic glass instead of canvas, which emphasizes the floating and indeterminate character of painting. The paint is applied with scrapers or the hands, and in each work a limited number of colors and patterns are used.
Rehnberg studied at the Royal Institute of Fine Arts in Stockholm (1975-1980) and Cité des Arts, Paris (1984-1986). The artist is represented in the collections of, among others, the Moderna museet and Gothenburg Museum of Art.
