About frames

Mikael Wahrby has become known as a master of depicting light and shadow, often in detailed, black and white, prints. He brings forth the objects and the rooms themselves, giving them life, often through dramatic lighting and sophisticated shading patterns. In 2014 he was awarded the Nils G. Stenqvist's memory fund scholarship for his "love for the opportunities of the copper plate" and his "love of the motives, as well as to the craft itself."

Mikael Wahrby is something of an institution in Swedish printmaking. In 1977, he graduated from the Royal Institute of Art and has since been working in this very special field of his, of which 10 years were spent as a lector at the institution where he once studied.
