Part of an exhibition project documenting floors of museums around the world, exhibited at the Moderna museet in Stockholm. This is the floor of the Metropolitan museum in New York.
Fredrik Wretman himself describes his working process as a highly intuitive and playful, where the resulting artworks bring his eyes to new perspectives, which in turn give birth to new works of art. The artist's signature pieces of art are probably his water installations, but he creates bronze sculptures, films and projections, as well as suggestive architectural spaces. Wretman has stayed for long periods of time in Thailand, where he has filmed meditating monks, whose expressive poses and calm intensity have become a recurring element in his artistic production.
Fredrik Wretman received his degree from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm in 1985. Since then, he has completed a number of public artworks and is represented in, for example, the collections of Moderna museet and the City of Stockholm.
