Roger Metto's colorful landscape painting often evokes the feeling of human existence before a magnificent but mysterious nature. The artist's childhood in mountainous region of Kiruna has given Metto the urge to convey this vast landscape, with its overwhelming mountain masses along the horizon; from the city's location on a slope, the whole mountain world can be seen in a wide panorama in all directons. The paintings blend classical imagery with abstract elements - inspiration comes from nature, but also from the challenge and opportunities offered by painting itself.
Roger Metto studied at the Royal Art Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. Today, after years of active exhibiting, he is represented in the major Swedish museum collections. He has made several public commissions.
